The Archiver, Episode #01

The Society of Honorius III

These tapes were recovered in the personal belongings of the archivist of the papal library after the tragic events at the Halliwell residence.

It would seem that the actions of Padre Alexander were critical to the outcome, but to understand the full implication of what happened, we need to examine the contents of the tapes. Though sometimes difficult due to the constant interference of forces from the other side, their message is clear.

Sometimes to look forward you must look back.

Tapescript:

If you are hearing this, it means I have expired.

It also means that the attempt to defend humanity against the hordes of demons and close the gates of hell has failed. As the archiver of the papal library of curiosity and demonic incursion, I feel it my responsibility to make a record of the brave people who fight for humanity. The heroes who sacrifice everything to keep the gates of hell shut. I work for the Society of Honorius III.

The Society of Honorius III is unique amongst the priestly fraternities of the Roman Catholic Church, in that has as its principal mission the exorcism of evil.

Any priest can, in theory, perform a formal exorcism but only with his bishop’s express permission. Due to papal indult given by Honorius’ successor Gregory IX, any member of the Society of Honorius may perform an exorcism at any time unless forbidden by the Superior General. Consequently, all are thoroughly trained before full membership is imparted.

As a symbol of their special charge and need for constant protection, Honorian priests may wear a pectoral cross, which must be of plain silver (without any decoration or corpus) and on a black cord. Where other clergy waits to be informed of the possibility of demonic possession, Honorians are perpetually on the hunt for signs of infernal influence.

Though few in number due to the demands of the training and the inherent danger of the job, these priests seek and destroy the works of Satan wherever they may lurk.
